non-linear FE solution

In: Computation concepts

The degree of plasticity in low-cycle fatigue cannot be wholly neglected as it can be within high-cycle fatigue. The involvement of the plasticity into the stress-strain law impairs the ideal Hooke's law. An acting load and local stresses or strains cease to change proportionally. The real elastic-plastic response of the structure to the extern load history has to be generated in some way under this new condition. There are two concepts how to take care of it:

* transient analysis - the complete local load history is generated within the FE-solver;

* use of conversion rules allowing derivation of the real elastic-plastic values from the fictious elastic ones.

The assembly of the solved task with the use of the transient analysis can be also advantageous for all other cases, where the non-linear FE-solution is the necessary input into PragTic. This solution will be further refined in future versions of PragTic. The introduction of the plasticity into the task is related to the Load Regime Definition menu by the transient analysis and not to the Calculation Methods menu, where the user leaves the option Elasto-plasticity set to No.
